This is a great book – I’m using it for NBEO part 2 studying and to have as a reference in clinic and while I work. I had the Will’s Eye Manual but I found this was a lot easier to read and look for certain diseases. The pictures are great! Definitely recommend for an optometry student, optometrist or an ophthalmologist!
Good organization, excellent photos, and a great reference to have!
Big improvement over previous editions! I like all the new OCT images. Download The Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary Illustrated Manual of Ophthalmology Kindle Edition Download PDF

There is a certain niche audience for this book: intermediate to advanced excel users who aren’t necessarily BI/datawarehousing types. If you are a fairly basic excel user, this would not be a book to start with. You should already know vlookups, pivot tables, etc. before getting into PowerPivot. And, if you are a grizzled BI professional, this may serve as a good reference, but you can breeze through parts of it.
I guess I’m pretty much the target audience here, then. I’m an all-day excel user, but had not yet gotten PowerPivot as my company was still on excel 2007. Moreover, I only have a passing familiarity with cubes and BI stuff, facts and dimensions and star schemas, oh my!
But I had heard about this PowerPivot fad (kidding!) and have been intrigued.
I recently upgraded to Excel 2013 on my home computer just so I could begin to play around with this new feature. While I don’t love the look and feel of excel 2013, it was worth it.
Okay, enough about excel itself. What do I think of this book? Why did I choose this one over one of the many others? How the heck am I reviewing it before it has even been released? Do I like asking questions as a cheap rhetorical device before essentially answering them myself? YES! I also like to refer to myself in the third person, just to sound important.
As for the third question: I subscribe to an online library that, for some reason, already has this available.
Honestly, the main reason I chose this book over many others is that it has a very comprehensive coverage of the subject by authors who’s previous book came highly recommended. Some books are more introductory (Jelen’s), some focus on DAX alone, some are more for the Sharepoint stuff, this one seemed to have it all. Across the entire world, for both developed and developing countries, the book’s authors study the cost of diseases to the societies in which these occur. The idea is to quantify, as much as possible, what the actual costs are. And also how the diseases might most effectively be fought. To this ends, the various risk factors that lead an individual to catch a disease are looked at. Some of these are due to personal choice, like smoking. Or unsafe sex. Other risk factors tend to be more environmental, where a person’s actions might have less correlation to catching a disease.
One use of the book is for governments to assess how best to spend what are invariably limited resources (like money and skilled people), against which diseases and risk factors. Download Global Burden of Disease and Risk Factors 1st Edition Download PDF

Medical Coding Quick Study Academic
I just finished a 9-month course in Medical Billing and Coding. Heard about these and ordered 5 i think. They were for medical coding in different areas, medical terminology, medical abbreviations and things like that. I used them ALL the time, and I was shocked that they actually helped me when I was studying for the CPC exam (which I passed on the first try! WEEE!!!) When I first got them and found out how valuable they would be for this course, I showed them to some of my classmates (I had them with me in school everyday) and they got them and 2 passed the course with flying colors and passed the certification exam. The other one passed the course, but barely missed the exam.
If you are looking for any of the quick study guides, they are laminated and totally AWESOME!!!!
This is an great tool for coding class. It’s convenient and much quicker than looking through the textbook! I highly recommend it for anyone in coding.
I thought this was a good tool to use if you need some help with coding. There are so many things to remember that I liked it all on this one sheet. Download Medical Coding 1 Lam Crds Edition Download PDF

If you are not a theory theorist; instead you are a practitioner and researcher in health promotion and practice or a learner or student in health area, I highly recommend you to have this book. This is the best book I ever see which explains abstruse health theories and models in such a plain and easily-understand language. It is a very practical, at-hand reference which will help you to understand health behavior theories and apply them in an operable way.
I thought that this book provided an overview of the major theories of health promotion, though I found myself on many occasions needing to go to supplementary materials for more detail.
service was great-the book is not so great but is what my class required,so thanks for getting it to me on time and for a reasonable price Download Behavior Theory In Health Promotion Practice And Research 1st Edition Download PDF

What was it like?
The author manages to mix evidence-based guidelines with practice effectively. This textbook has been revised and updated to prepare the nurse for leadship. This textbook provides the reader with information to equip them with the tools that are required to accomplish NCLEX and to practice as a nurse. This as it states in the book is more than just a text book as it includes NCLEX- style questions and sample resumes. There is also a web link to activate the complete learning experience.
Highlights of this book:
Although written for the nurse in the states, this is extremely relevant to the nurse practicing in the UK. This is focused around the ever changing healthcare setting, and the today’s aspects of patient care. I was particularly reassured to read that patient safety was included. The section headed understanding organisational structures- how can someone lead if there is no understanding as to how the organisation functions, staffing and the issues that need to be managed taking into consideration the variables and factoring this in. The section headed legal and ethical issues were invaluable for the reader. This book equips the manager to manage or the leader to lead. The suggested reading at the end of the chapters equips the nurse to read further into a subject.
Strengths & weaknesses:
This is written for the nurse practising in the states and to prepare them for NCLEX. It is written in the language of the states, but that should not hinder the nurse leading in the UK.
The book is researched and written well and has been revised and updated to ensure this is for today’s leaders in nursing. Each chapter is set out well with realistic exercises and a research perspective. Download Leading and Managing in Nursing Kindle Edition Download PDF
"They Say / I Say": The Moves That Matter in Academic Writing (Third High School Edition) Third High School Edition Edition
Author: Visit ‘s Gerald Graff Page ID: 039393585X
Review
“Demystifies academic argumentation.” — Patricia Bizzell, College of the Holy Cross “This book demystifies rhetorical moves, tricks of the trade that many students are unsure about. It’s reasonable, helpful, nicely written … and hey, it’s true. I would have found it immensely helpful myself in high school and college.” — Mike Rose, University of California, Los Angeles “The best tribute to “They Say / I Say” I’ve heard is this, from a student: “This is one book I’m not selling back to the bookstore.” Nods all around the room. The students love this book.” — Christine Ross, Quinnipiac University “The argument of this book is important-that there are “moves” to academic writing … and that knowledge of them can be generative. The template format is a good way to teach and demystify the moves that matter. I like this book a lot.” — David Bartholomae, University of Pittsburgh “A brilliant book… It’s like a membership card in the academic club.” — Eileen Seifert, DePaul University “Students need to walk a fine line between their work and that of others, and this book helps them walk that line, providing specific methods and techniques for introducing, explaining, and integrating other voices with their own ideas.” — Libby Miles, University of Rhode Island “This book uncovers the rhetorical conventions that transcend disciplinary boundaries, so that even freshmen, newcomers to the academy, are immediately able to join in the conversation.” — Margaret Weaver, Missouri State University

I teach composition/rhetoric at a two-year college and I have required the previous (second) edition of this book for a couple years.
I chose this text initially because, unlike a lot of composition texts, the writing voice in TS/IS is very personable, easy to follow, and unpretentious. It occasionally shows a nerdy sense of humor which, surprisingly, my students don’t seem to mind.
The book addresses issues that I wish I had been taught as an undergrad, like "saying why it matters," or even the concept of "they say/I say" itself, which looks at how to take empty, boring writing, and put it in context so readers are interested in it. Instead of lecturing about the same tired old essay structure, the book approaches the task like a personal quest: make yourself clear, be interesting, and have integrity as a writer. Anything it omits or only touches on, like MLA style or research tips, can easily be supplemented.
The publisher’s price on the second edition (without the readings, many of which can be found online anyway) remains an affordable $25. And I was pleased to see this new third edition also at $25 (on the Norton site, anyway). The price allows me to pair this required text with another inexpensive book on style to capture the more technical side of writing.
My only disappointment is that while TS/IS is FINALLY available as an e-book in the new third edition, it is limited in platform, and comes with this disclaimer: "Our eBooks are Flash based and will not work on the iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, and some android devices."
